LUES FAMILY FOCUS: READING STRATEGIES
Be a Role Model: Demonstrate your love for reading by setting aside time for your own reading interests. Children often emulate their parents' habits, so seeing you with a book could prove to be very powerful.

LUES SCHOOL PARENT COMPACTS
This week you will receive a School-Parent Compact. Please sign and date the form to acknowledge you have read, received, and agree to this School-Parent Compact. Return it to the school as soon as possible. Each child must have a signed copy on file.

LUES FAMILY FOCUS: READING STRATEGIES
Keep a reading log for your family and set a goal. It's fun to see how many books you read, and you can think of creative ways to celebrate your goals when you meet them!

Bus Driver Appreciation Week is Oct. 21-25. This is a great time to thank your bus driver, give them a gift, a snack, cold drink, draw a picture, or make a card. Take time over the weekend to come up with a way to recognize them next week. We want to thank all of our drivers for getting our students to school and home safely each day.

LUES FAMILY FOCUS: READING STRATEGIES
Set a Reading Routine: Establish a daily reading routine with your child. It can be before bedtime or after school for example. Consistency is key to developing good reading habits!

5th grade students in Mrs. Larsen's and Mrs. Reese's math classes played a Find Someone Who game Fall Break/Hurricane edition. They enjoyed sharing their good and bad experiences with each other. We heard many positives such as family time, nobody injured, and watching the linemen get the electricity back on. The overall negative was no internet or cell service for quite a few days so no video games or social media. It was good to see the students back today! #toombsstrong #5thgradersarethebest

The 3rd Grade Backyard S'mores Raffle has been extended. Please return all money and sold tickets by Oct. 24th. The drawing will be held on Oct. 25th.
