LUES FAMILY FOCUS: HEALTHY HABITS
Ensure your child has a balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, proteins, and dairy products. Limit sugary and processed foods where you can. When students come to school after a healthy breakfast, they have the energy they need to start the day!

A healthy child not only exhibits physical well-being but emotional, social, and intellectual wellness as well. Creating a healthy child includes nurturing their physical, emotional social and intellectual well-being. By focusing on these aspects, you are helping your child develop the skills and resilience they need to live a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle.

To recognize Positive Behaviors at LUES, we will host Bingo and Brownies for our students that have had no office referrals and only one classroom referral from 1/17/25-2/14/25 (20 days of excellent behavior.) Please consider donating prizes, juice boxes, or Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies to our event.

LUES will celebrate 101 DAYS OF SCHOOL on Monday, 1/27/25. Students can dress up like Dalmatians while Mrs. Stone dresses like Cruella!
Toombs County Schools Update: Toombs County Schools will reopen tomorrow, Friday, January 24. We look forward to seeing our students and providing them a safe, warm learning environment!

Proactive Planning- All children will have days they are sick or need to go to an appointment, but try to plan vacations and appointments during school breaks when possible to minimize disruptions to your child's education. Always send an excuse for illness.
Important Update from Toombs County Schools: After consulting with the local Emergency Management Agency and the Toombs County Sheriff's Office, we have determined that hazardous road conditions caused by snowfall and persistent sub-freezing temperatures—leading to dangerous icing—make school travel unsafe. To prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and community, schools will remain closed on Thursday, January 23, 2025. The plan is to return to normal school operations on Friday, January 24, 2025. Our school transportation department will reach out to families of bus riders affected by impacted roads to ensure safe travel to school on Friday.

One of our STEM groups at LUES last week was cutting and coloring snowflakes ❄️; students had a choice of 3 different designs of snowflakes to create, and they loved this activity! It was just in time for our snow day! #shine
