LUES AWARDS DAY: Last day of school- Friday, May 17th. 5th Grade- 8:30 a.m., 4th Grade- 10:00 a.m., 3rd grade: 11:00 a.m. Go ahead and mark on your calendar, ask off from work, and make plans to attend your child's ceremony at Toombs County High School. Can't wait to see you all there!

Mrs. Wiggins' (in 5th grade) hosted a calculator math riddle class during Mini Course day at Lyons Upper. Students used calculators to solve riddles. Students were surprised to know numbers turned into letters when the calculator was flipped upside down 🙃 #shine #LUES

After careful consideration and for the safety of our staff, students, and community we are cancelling school on Friday, May 10th. Our community still has widespread power outages and expects more storms tomorrow. We feel it is simply not safe to have school transportation to be on the roads tomorrow. We will be back to normal school operations on Monday, May 13th.
Stay Safe.

Toombs County Schools will delay dismissal to 3 PM to allow buses to get in place. Thank you parents for being patient and understanding of this severe weather delay. Students may be later than normal getting home.

Check out the tents at LUES Field Day to learn about family summer resources!

LUES FIELD DAY WEATHER UPDATE: We are currently still planning to have FIELD DAY this Friday (May 10) at the TCMS Soccer Field, but have seen some weather reports that may not be favorable. Of course, safety is the number one priority of our students. If weather is not permitting, we will try to move as many events as possible indoors. We will not be able to host parents indoors because of lack of space. We will try to keep you posted on what decisions are made as the time comes and weather forecasts are updated. Due to lack of the days left in school, we will not be able to reschedule Field Day if it is rained out. Thanks for your support! We hope we have beautiful weather and lots of parents attending!

LUES CEREAL CHALLENGE- We only have few more days to get those boxes of cereal donated. May 14th at 9:30 is the final day . We are currently at 290 boxes. Our GOAL is 500 boxes so that every student can place a domino in the train. Please consider donating to our project.

LUES RECOGNIZES SCHOOL NURSE'S DAY: MAY 8TH
Thank you to Nurse Cory Wickstrom for all she does to take care of our students. Join us in recognizing the invaluable contributions of Nurse Cory to the students of Lyons Upper Elementary.

LUES Update: Dear Parents/Guardians,
Our staff discovered that a student was in possession of an unapproved item on campus today. Please be assured that the situation was quickly addressed by our administrators and appropriate measures were taken. The parents of all students involved have been contacted.
The safety and security of our students and staff remain our top priority, and we take any concerns very seriously. Rest assured that we are continuously vigilant in our efforts to maintain a safe learning environment for all.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Rhonda Stone
LUES Principal

LUES CEREAL BOX CHALLENGE UPDATE: Please remember to send a box of cereal with your student. We want to have one box for everyone child (500) to be able to participate in the Domino Train. We currently have 271 boxes. The last day to bring in a box is May 14th. The cereal will be donated to local food banks.

LUES FIELD DAY: If your child is not buying drinks/snacks from the concession stand, please send them with a water bottle, a cooler, or snacks. Lunches will be served at usual times, but students will need to hydrate throughout the day.

LUES BETA Club Field Trip WILL BE
Monday. It is not cancelled/rescheduled. Again, it will be Monday. Sorry for any confusion.

Mrs. Wiggins's 5th grade math class made paper airplanes and measured how far they'd fly. They raced them, then converted the distance flown from inches to feet and to yards. They had a great time, and especially loved being out of the classroom! #shine #5thGradeRocks

Mrs. Reese's fifth grade class enjoyed some time outside making memories this morning as a reward.
