You know your principal is the best when she comes by to check in on everybody and wants to help teach the math lesson and rocks it! Thank you for being a great instructional leader on top of everything else you do for the staff and students at LUES! #wehavethebest #instructionalleader #shine

While transporting students home from school, one of our buses was rear ended by a car. None of the students nor the driver were seriously injured. The safety of our students is our top priority, including when they are riding the bus to and from school each day. All parents were contacted by the school system and notified of the accident.

Dear LUES Family,
I hope this notice finds you well. Just as we pay close attention to our attendance and discipline data, we also like to look at other data as well to keep LUES running successfully. I wanted to update you on nurse visits on campus yesterday. On 2/13/24, our school nurse, Cory Wickstrom, attended to 81 students in her office. Some students required daily medication, while others sought assistance for headaches, stomach aches, band-aids, chapstick, head lice checks, and clothing issues. Way to go Nurse Cory!
Out of the 81 students, 10 had to be sent home due to illness. To ensure the health and safety of all our students, I kindly request that you refrain from sending your child to school if they are unwell (fever, vomiting, diarrhea, head lice, etc.) . Our dedicated nurse must check each child's medication permissions, contact parents, and document everything on Infinite Campus. To do all of that due diligence for 81 students each day is a lot of work, but Nurse Cory handles it very well!
What other data would you like for me to share with you? Please feel free to email me at rhonda.stone@toombs.k12.ga.us with suggestions and ideas.
Warm regards,
Rhonda Stone

Subject: Reminder about Valentine's Day Deliveries
Dear LUES Family,
I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to send a quick reminder regarding Valentine's Day tomorrow. As per our school handbook, please be aware that we do not accept deliveries for students. Due to limited space in our office and classrooms, we are unable to accommodate these items. Moreover, accepting responsibility for delivered items may cause disruptions to the school day.
Additionally, it is important to note that transporting balloons or glass on a school bus is not safe. Please make sure to communicate this to your students and your family to ensure their understanding.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I appreciate your ongoing support in maintaining a safe and focused learning environment.
Best regards and Happy Valentine's Day,
Rhonda Stone
Principal Lyons Upper Elementary
